The government of Haiti said floods have affected the northern region since Thursday 29 January 2015 - 02 February 2015 as heavy rain has been falling in parts of northern Haiti non-stop for almost one week. The rains have caused severe flooding across the region, in particular Cap-Haïtien (Le Cap) and areas of Nord Department.  Reports of area river overflow come from the Haiti Libre( the Limé, Grande Rivière du Nord, Borgne and Bayeux).  A delegation headed by the Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities, Dr. Ariel Henry is on site to assess the damage and coordinate first aid.”   Cap Haitien is mountains on the west side so rains tend to run-off.. "Torrential rain since Friday has left northern parts of Haiti suffering sever flooding. At least 8 deaths have been reported, and 4,500 people have been forced to evacuate. Over 2,000 homes have been damaged by the flooding...In Haiti, the worst affected areas are Grande-Rivière-du-Nord, Limonade, Limbé and Dondon, according to local authorities.  Haiti government departments are organising temporary accommodation and distributing food, bedding and water purification tablets.
